WWTP in dairy industry, problems by Meganema perideroedes

The filamentous bacteria are generally present in the mocrobiological communities of activate sludege of wastewater treatment plants (WWTP) and insutria (WWTP). The excessive growth of these organizsms could cause seriou problems, foaming and bulking, for the operation of the WWTP. Specifically the IWWTP of dairy Industry are very problematic due the high level of soluble COD in the tributaries, In dayry serum IWWTP there was a problme of bluking, caused by the morphotype Nostocoida limícola, which subsequently was identified as Meganema perideroedes using the Fish technique. There was a positive relationship between the deficiency of osygen and the presence of this organism in the activate sludge. Read the full article here.
